There is ample parking, an outhouse, information about the canal, a boat ramp, and a lock and dam at the Grange Rd starting point (located here). The lock and dam are interesting because the gate opening and mechanisms are still in place. I often long to have been around to see the canal in operation. The beginning of the trip was quite pleasant with lots of shade on a hot day, but later the trees lining the path and canal provided no comfort from the heat. The trip, however, was still lovely with lots of great blue herons, one even walking the path just in front of me before taking flight. If you look carefully, you can see the heron in the middle picture above.
